Movies we watched and you probably should pay attention 11/4/21 GTSC movies podcast

Kevin Gootee saw:

The Bank Job (2008)

A story of a bank robbery in 1970’s London truly goes ass up when the robbers not only steal money but one member takes something from a safety deposit box that the mob desperately wants back. Jason Statham goes out of his comfort zone to play a London gangster in this VERY underrated film. This really didn’t make an impact (from what I remember) at the box office and man, this was solid. Give it a watch.

Divide and Conquer (2018)

A documentary on Roger Ailes ascension as a media mogul and outed as a colossal piece of shit. No surprises here. Not a bad watch but there wasn’t much here that we didn’t already know.

Kevin Israel saw:

The Harder They Fall (2021)

  • Gunning for revenge, outlaw Nat Love saddles up with his gang to take down enemy Rufus Buck, a ruthless crime boss who just got sprung from prison.
  • This movie was more fun than I expected. It doesn’t cover any new ground, but it gives a modern spin (a la “A Knight’s Tale”) to a well trod blueprint. All the performances were great, the action was fun, and violence felt quasi- Tarantino-esque. Johnathan Majors is clearly the man of the hour and Idris Elba is frigging Idris Elba. I’m also a fan of  Zazie Beetz and just learned that’s her real name. Enjoyed watching an original western. 7/10
