What Kevin Israel watched:
Free Guy (2021)
- When a bank teller discovers he’s actually a background player in an open-world video game, he decides to become the hero of his own story — one that he can rewrite himself. In a world where there’s no limits, he’s determined to save the day his way before it’s too late, and maybe find a little romance with the coder who conceived him.
- Remember in my last blog when I was begging for original content? Well, Free Guy hits the spot! I loved this movie. It was fun, original, and exciting. It really hit all the marks. Ryan Reynolds is clearly a juggernaut but this movie surprised me. I was sure it would be a dud. I was happy to be wrong. 8/10
What Kevin Gootee watched:
Get Carter (2000)
Sly Stallone mumbles his way through a remake that starred Michael Caine, also in this film, as an angry brother seeking revenge for his dead brother. Rachel Leigh Cook plays the daughter of the dead father. And holy christ, I forgot how cute RLC was, despite her spending a $100 gift card at Hot Topic for her facial piercings budget in this film. This was your typical mediocre late 90’s/early 2000s light on plot and light on action. Not as bad as Judge Dredd but this isn’t good. One. Bit.
Jack Reacher (2012)
The Tom Cruise film that irked me when I saw they casted him for this film. Because if you read a Jack Reacher book, you’d know JR was 6’5″ and 230 lbs with blonde hair and blue eyes. Tom Cruise is the size of an average Asian but the body of a cross fitter. Good ol Tommy comes to Pittsburgh (poor bastard) to prove someone is innocent of murder. But Tom Cruise bats .750 in my book and here is no difference. This is enjoyable but the sequel is not.
